Purpose of the Role
The Financial Control Officer plays a crucial role in analyzing financial data, ensuring regulatory compliance, monitoring costs, and supporting strategic financial decisions. The role also contributes to the bank’s budgeting process, procurement oversight, and cost-to-income ratio improvement.
Key Responsibilities
1. Reporting & Analysis

Prepare timely and accurate monthly and quarterly financial reports.

Analyze branch and departmental performance.

Support board reporting by preparing slides and financial presentations.

Collaborate with the Risk & Compliance department to incorporate IFRS 9 ECL Model adjustments into management accounts.
2. Cost & Revenue Oversight

Track operational costs and revenue streams against budget.

Identify cost-saving opportunities and revenue leakages.

Conduct trend analysis on operational expenditure (OPEX).
3. Procurement Oversight

Ensure full compliance with internal procurement policies.

Coordinate tender processes including documentation, evaluation committees, and vendor pre-qualification.

Verify supplier data and provide pre-approvals as needed.
4. Budget Management

Lead the annual budget coordination process across departments.

Consolidate departmental budgets into a master budget template.

Work closely with the Chief Accountant on final budget submissions.
5. Expenditure Reviews

Review all expenditure requests from the administration team.

Confirm whether spending aligns with approved budget lines and cost necessity.
6. Team Collaboration

Provide guidance to department heads on budget utilization.

Promote a culture of accountability and cost-awareness across teams.

Foster teamwork and professional respect among finance and cross-functional teams.
Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

Pursuing or holding a CPA or ACCA qualification is an added advantage.

At least 3 years of experience in financial control, accounting, or related finance roles.

Strong Excel skills; proficiency in PowerPoint and data analysis tools is a plus.

Strong critical thinking, attention to detail, and eagerness to learn.
