The Opportunity

Abt Global is recruiting a Vector Control Manager for its PMI Evolve Tanzania Project. This position is critical in supporting the U.S. President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI) in delivering vector control interventions, including the 2026 Insecticide-Treated Net (ITN) Targeted Mass Replacement Campaign and School Net Program (SNP).

This is a leadership role involving high-level coordination, supervision, logistics management, and technical guidance for malaria prevention efforts in Tanzania.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead co-design and execution of PMI-funded malaria vector control strategies with government and community stakeholders.

  • Supervise regional coordinators and ITN distribution teams.

  • Plan and manage the implementation of all ITN-related activities:

    • Develop detailed campaign plans for TMC and SNP.

    • Coordinate household registration and school enrollment verification.

    • Organize microplanning sessions with national and local authorities.

    • Quantify net needs, logistics, and human resource requirements.

  • Lead community mobilization, training, and stakeholder engagement for campaign success.

  • Oversee field operations and ensure all deliverables meet PMI and Abt standards.

  • Monitor distribution metrics in collaboration with the M&E team.

  • Manage warehousing, ITN supply chains, and stock records accurately.

  • Coordinate with supply chain partners (e.g., Ugavi Bora, GHSC-PSM) to ensure secure, compliant net distribution.

  • Implement information, education, and communication (IEC) strategies.

  • Maintain strong documentation of campaign milestones, lessons learned, and reports.

  • Oversee subcontractor performance in entomological surveillance and insecticide resistance monitoring.

Candidate Profile

Education and Experience

  • Master’s degree in Public Health, Business Administration, or a related field (required).

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in malaria control, project operations, or international development.

  • Proven success in managing large-scale ITN campaigns and/or school-based distributions.

  • At least 4 years of experience in close collaboration with government and community stakeholders.

  • Strong background in supply chain, public health logistics, or campaign microplanning.

  • Prior experience with USAID or other US Government-funded projects is preferred.

  • Understanding of US Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and AIDARs is an asset.

Technical Competencies

  • Advanced planning, implementation, and reporting skills.

  • Familiarity with monitoring and evaluation frameworks for public health programs.

  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital project management tools.

  • Fluency in English (required); Swahili (strongly preferred).

  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
