Internship Overview
The United Nations DMSPC is inviting applications for a Graphic Design Intern position within its Office of Human Resources. This opportunity is ideal for students or recent graduates passionate about design and global communication. Interns will support strategic HR campaigns and materials by producing high-quality visual content for digital and print platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Under the guidance of a Human Resources Officer, the intern will:
1. Visual Content Design

Create graphics for publications, websites, blogs, newsletters, and social media

Design flyers, posters, presentations, event materials, banners, and infographics
-
Edit and contribute to visual assets for video and sound-based media
2. Design Workflow Participation
-
Develop design concepts, storyboards, and drafts
-
Revise content based on team feedback
-
Finalize visuals and participate in post-production reviews
3. Communication Support
-
Format and design PowerPoint presentations and reports
-
Assist in maintaining internal/external websites and social media
-
Prepare outreach content and promotional materials
4. Event and Media Support
-
Aid in organizing UN HR events and communication efforts
-
Contribute to accessibility-focused design practices
5. Meetings and Reporting

Attend project briefings and contribute design ideas
-
Provide updates on design project progress and timelines
-
Monitor current trends in visual communication and accessibility
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet one of the following education criteria:

Be enrolled in a Master’s degree program (or equivalent), or
-
Be in the final year of a Bachelor’s degree program (or equivalent), or
-
Have graduated within the past year from one of the above.

Preferred Skills and Tools

Proficiency in at least one design platform:

Adobe Photoshop

Illustrator

InDesign
-
Canva, Figma, or similar tools

Experience designing content for websites, social media, publications, or event marketing

Experience with basic video editing and layout design is a plus

Ability to support event coordination and outreach campaigns

Understanding of visual accessibility and inclusive design practices
Language Requirements

English: Required (written and spoken)

Additional UN Languages (Optional): Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish

Non-U.S. Citizens/Residents:

Must obtain a G-4 visa for full-time internships (35 hours/week)

Students with F-1 or J-1 visas may only intern part-time with proper authorization

Travel and Living Costs:

The UN does not cover travel, accommodation, visa, or daily expenses

Interns must arrange and fund their stay and logistics independently or through a sponsoring institution
