Are you passionate about gender equality and inclusive development? The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is currently inviting applications for a unique Women’s Empowerment Internship based in Montenegro. This internship offers a meaningful opportunity to support transformative projects focused on women’s economic empowerment, gender equality policy, and inclusive rural development.

About the Internship Programme

UNDP’s Internship Programme provides a hands-on learning experience within a professional development setting. Interns work directly with experts and project teams on impactful initiatives, gaining exposure to the UNDP’s mission of sustainable development and inclusive governance.

As an intern in the Gender Equality Cluster, you will contribute to a variety of strategic and operational activities aimed at promoting gender equity—especially among women in rural and underserved communities.

Key Responsibilities

Under the guidance of the Project Analyst for Women’s Economic Empowerment, you will:

  • Support planning and coordination of events, workshops, and stakeholder engagement

  • Draft letters, reports, meeting minutes, and communication materials

  • Assist in data collection, gender analysis, and knowledge generation

  • Participate in capacity-building activities and community development projects

  • Contribute to project monitoring, implementation, and documentation

  • Draft and schedule social media content related to the gender programme

  • Work with the Communications Analyst and gender experts to enhance UNDP’s visibility across Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify, applicants must meet one of the following:

  • Be currently enrolled in a postgraduate programme (Master’s or higher)

  • Be in the final year of a university undergraduate degree

  • Have recently graduated (within the last 12 months)

  • Be enrolled in a professional traineeship programme involving internship participation

Preferred Fields of Study:
Social Sciences, Gender Studies, International Relations, Political Science, or related disciplines.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work both independently and in a team

  • Skilled in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Knowledge of social media or graphic design tools is a plus

  • Fluency in English and Montenegrin (verbal and written)

  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information professionally

  • Demonstrated interest in gender, community work, and development projects

Learning Opportunities

As a UNDP intern, you will:

Stipend and Internship Terms

  • A monthly stipend is provided to cover basic living expenses

  • Interns accrue 1.5 days of leave per month (pro-rated for part-time roles)

  • Interns must secure medical insurance and submit a medical certificate before onboarding

  • The internship does not guarantee future employment at UNDP

  • UNDP covers costs for official travel or fieldwork as per policy
